Razionale scientifico

Diagnostic imaging plays a pivotal role in the management of patients with central nervous system (CNS) tumours, supporting diagnosis, treatment planning, response assessment, and long-term follow-up. In recent years, significant advances in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including advanced functional and quantitative techniques, have substantially improved lesion characterization and have enhanced the neuroradiologist's contribution to multidisciplinary decision-making. The increasing complexity of neuro-oncological pathways requires a thorough understanding of conventional and advanced imaging protocols, as well as the appropriate use of contrast-enhanced MRI in different clinical scenarios. Accurate interpretation of imaging findings is essential to distinguish tumour progression from treatment-related changes, evaluate therapeutic response, and guide patient management. Furthermore, the integration of artificial intelligence tools and multimodal imaging approaches is opening new perspectives for image analysis and diagnostic accuracy, contributing to a more personalized approach to patient care. The continuous evolution of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in neuro-oncology makes high-level scientific education and professional updating essential for radiologists involved in the imaging assessment of CNS tumours. The discussion of clinical cases and real-world diagnostic challenges represents a valuable opportunity to share experience and optimize imaging practices across different institutions. This course is specifically designed for neuroradiologists and radiologists with an interest in neuro-oncology who wish to deepen their knowledge of current imaging applications in CNS tumours. Through lectures delivered by leading experts and interactive case discussions, participants will gain updated insights into the most relevant and emerging topics in neuro-oncological imaging.
