The International Summer School of Renal Pathology & Precision Medicine (ISSRPPM) is dedicated to advancing knowledge and improving management of kidney disease. The school builds on previous experience gained through the International Summer School of Renal Pathology (ISSRP) since 2011 and aims to train the next generation of renal pathologists to practice integrated nephropathology. The school will be organized in 4 modules: (1) Precision Medicine – Basic Concepts from tissue procurement to data extraction and analysis; (2) Pathology of Native Kidney Diseases with clinico-pathological and molecular correlation; (3) Digital Pathology and Image Analysis of Kidney Diseases; (4) Molecular Nephropathology & Data Integration. Each module will include formal educational lectures on renal pathology, image analysis and omics technologies; hands-on laboratory experience in small groups including case review, image analysis and relevant omics technologies; and data integration & phenotyping/endotyping case studies. Scientific topics include: podocytopathies, collagenopathies, obesity-related glomerulopathies, mitochondriopathies, membranous nephropathy, IgA nephropathy and vasculitis, diseases of complement dysregulation, thrombotic microangiopathies, monoclonal disease of renal significance, lupus nephritis, tubulointerstitial disease, cystic diseases, chronic kidney disease in diabetes with novel therapeutic approaches (SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP1 agonists, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists), and transplant pathology.
